Speakers at the 7th Valentia Cable Lecture in the Cable Station in Knightstown, Valentia Island on Friday were l-r; Nicola Millard – Principal Innovation Partner, BT, Norman Crowley, Chairman CoolPlanet, Leonard Hobbs. Chairperson Valentia Transatlantic Cable Foundation, Dr Camino Kavanagh and Leo Clancy, CEO Enterprise Ireland.

On Friday July 28th 2023 the 7th Valentia Lecture returned to the historic Cable Station with the theme “ A Vision for Ireland and its place in the Digital World “

 

We were joined by Mr Leo Clancy, CEO of Enterprise Ireland, Dr Nicola Millard, Principal Innovation Partner at BT, Entrepreneur Mr Norman Crowley of CoolPlanet, and cable security expert, Dr Camino Kavanagh.

 

Topics under discussion included

  • The future for Ireland’s economy in a connected world
  • The meaning of Ireland being the greenest country on Earth
  • The role for Ireland in the security of sub sea cables
  • Trends shaping the future of work
  •  

We again hosted an online “link-up” with Hearts Content in Newfoundland Canada, which featured a greeting from each country’s Ambassador and hear updates from both sides of the Atlantic on the hopes and plans for achieving UNESCO heritage status for this transnational project.
